Chapter 3: How a 10 Page Site Can Make More than a 100+ Page Site

If you want to create a successful business on the internet, you’re likely going to have to put a lot of time and effort into content that will be created not just for your site but also for your audience.
All too often, bloggers and site owners get lost in the thought that the more content they create, the higher they will rank in the search results, and the more traffic they will get back to their site.
This might have been the case a decade ago, but it’s certainly not the case anymore.
Today, it’s all about creating the best resource possible and making sure it’s better than what’s already out there.
With this in mind, I want to tell you about why a 10-page website or blog is more often better than a site with hundreds of pages of content.
We can actually break this down to just a few data points and factors to make it easy for everyone to understand:
- The more content you’ve written within an individual piece of content, the more likely it will rank higher in Google. The majority of content ranking on the first page of Google these days has more than 2,000 words. At the same time, the more content you have, the more likely you are to address the issues that your audience is looking for
- Creating content for your website is great, but if you are creating way too many articles and going live with them on a daily basis, this is just creating more work for yourself. It’s much easier to promote a website with ten evergreen articles that you know are all high-quality, versus trying to send backlinks, social promotion, and advertising to several hundred articles on your site
- There are now more than a billion active websites on the internet and there really is no need for more content. However, content creation is now happening more often than ever before. Everyone needs it…but not everyone is doing it right. With all of this in mind, the less content you create, the less problems you’re going to have trying to rank your site. Remember: Google will only rank ten organic listings on their main page. If you build up a site with great content and it’s condensed into only a few pages that all reference and internally link to each other, it will be that much easier for you to rank amongst the competition
As you can see, there are many reasons for you to create content on your website or blog, but this should be done in a smart way.
Put in the time and effort to make sure that you research the keywords and search phrases you want to rank for, while also creating the best content possible for your audience.
Once all of this takes place, it’s time to start with the manual outreach and content promotion that many other site owners and brands will pass on – simply because of the time and effort it takes.
This includes everything from guest blogging, contacting editors at media sites, creating infographics, social media promotion and more.
Without all of these elements in play, you will likely end up with another site that is just flooding the internet with mediocre content that will never rank against the competition.
